Membership Covenant

Having, as we trust, been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to Him, and having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully covenant with each other at North End to make disciples, raise up leaders, and plant churches so that Jesus is known and worshiped from our homes to the ends of the earth (Matt 28:19-20; Jn 16:7-11; Acts 2:42; 1 Cor 12:12-13).

To accomplish this mission:

We will pursue holiness by denying ungodliness and worldly passions, instead choosing to walk in humble obedience before the triune God of the Bible (Lev 11:44-45; Jn 3:30; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Cor 9:24-27; Eph 5:1-21; 2 Tim 3:14-17; Heb 12:1-2; 1 Pt 1:13-16).

We will shepherd those in our care by bringing them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Deut 6:1-12, 11:18-20; Ps 112; Eph 6:4).

We will live connected by regularly gathering on the Lord’s Day to worship according to biblical standards, as well as plodding together in brotherly love by faithfully admonishing and encouraging each other, remembering to speak the truth in love (Matt 18:10-35; Gal 6:1-2; Eph 4:1-16; Heb 10:24-25).

We will submit to Godly church leadership by upholding the doctrine, discipline, and vision of the church, as we strive for unity and peace by our regular engagement in worship and ordinances, as outlined in Scripture (1 Thess 5:12-13; Heb 13:17; 1 Pt 5:1-4).

We will serve joyfully by using our God-given gifts to build up the church in maturity, unity, and mission while striving for peace under the leadership and care of the elders that God has entrusted to shepherd our church (Psalm 100:2; Matt 20:25-28; Rom 12:6-8; Phil 3:17; Heb 13:17; 1 Pt 5:5).

We will give generously by using our earthly resources to sacrificially, cheerfully, and regularly support the ministry of this church and the spread of the gospel through all nations (Deut 15:10; Psalm 37:21; Matt 25:14-30; Rom 12:13; 1 Cor 16:2; 2 Cor 8-9; 1 Pt 4:10-11).

We will love our neighbors by actively seeking out ways to model the love of Jesus to anyone in need, wherever God sends us, beginning with those in our daily lives (Lev 19:18; Matt 22:39; Luke 10; Acts 2:39; Rom 8:26-30; Col 4:2-6; 1 Jn 4:19).

We will share the gospel by growing in our understanding of Jesus’ work so that we can openly, clearly, and passionately speak of Jesus to anyone God providentially brings into our lives from our homes to the ends of the earth (Matt 9:36-38, 28:18-20; Mk 5:19; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor 4:1-2; 2 Cor 5:20-6:1).

Should we move from this church, we will seek out another church, as soon as possible, with whom we can uphold the spirit of this covenant (Acts 18:27-28; Rom 16:1-2; Heb 10:24-25)

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen (2 Cor 13:14).
